The North Leigh 18 Mile Hike, now in its 4th year was a great success again, with over 300 participants taking place on the day in very wet and windy weather! The mud was think and the puddles deep as Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts walked in their Section Teams or in family teams over either an 8 mile or 18 mile figure of eight route on Saturday 3rd February 2018.
The teams were all supported on the day by a huge amount of helpers that either drove minibuses, manned Checkpoints, organised car parking, catered for the event, emergency response team, First Aid, cleaning, administration, radio communications and lots lots more. Over 40 helpers in total support the participants in the hike to make sure that they are safe throughout the day.
The participants of the hike first set off from Turner Hall at 7am with the last teams coming in at around 5:30pm, tired and cold but triumphant in their achievement of walking 18 miles in difficult weather and ground conditions.
We would like to thank North Oxford BMW for their continued support of our event and the positive impact that it has on our community scouting in North Leigh.
